General Information Edit

Intro level course in Computer Science and Information Science. Required course for Information Science in CALS and A&S. Fall only.

Prerequisites Edit

None, assumes zero programming experience

Topics Covered Edit

  • HTML Syntax
  • Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and web design theory
  • Responsive web design (mobile, dynamic page elements)
  • Javascript and jQuery for dynamic pages
  • Basic PHP for contact forms, repetitive elements

Workload Edit

Light, just don't leave the projects until the last minute

General Advice Edit

  • The Internet is your best friend. 99% of the time, someone has had the exact same error as you. Searching for an error (either with your validator or a scenario with your code) will more than likely yield positive results.
  • Don't put projects off until the last minute. Office hours and Piazza are there for a reason.
  • Don't take code from someone else (Stack Overflow, Codepen) without citing it. Current instructor is hard on citing sources for everything.

Testimonials Edit

Took course Fall 2014 with DanCo. Great lecturer and course content; enjoyed the class immensely.
